ITN 31 | Mike Kolesky from Just Guys Being Dudes (Hamtramck, MI)

I talked with Mike from Just Guys Being Dudes about his band, his house venue, and how each got its start. We also joked (kinda) about what it means to be a hipster and about a bunch of other stuff that I don’t remember right now. Check out his band on bandcamp and social media and come out to a show! Thanks for listening. Air date: 9/26/2019.

ITN 30 | Tequila Deer/Church Street Booking (Ypsilanti, MI)

30 episodes deep, woooaaahhh. Chilled with dem boyz in Tequila Deer, who also happen to make up part of the Church Street Booking crew. We talked about the origins and future of Tequila Deer, got a performance from TD, and also talked about the Great Pumpkin Fest coming up in October presented by CSB and Outta This World Booking. Check out their social media pages for more info, and thanks for listening! Air date: 9/23/2019.

ITN 29 | Joseph Xu Photography (Ann Arbor, MI)

First full episode with a photographer! Joseph Xu and I had a cool conversation about how the worlds of photography and music intersected for him. Honestly, we talked about so much stuff that I’m going to forego trying to summarize all of it and just tell you to listen to the episode. Notice the fancy episode photo on the website!? That’s because he took it. Check out his work HERE and hit him up on social media @jxu.photo to shoot your band! Thanks for listening, homies! Air date: 9/16/2019.

ITN 28 | Bombastic Dream Pussy (Ferndale, MI)

Sat down with Hayley from the mighty BOMBASTIC DREAM PUSSY!!! And the award for band name I’m least excited to say out loud to people outside the scene goes to… 😉 I put Hayley’s performance at the beginning of the episode for your listening enjoyment. Had a nice conversation, hope you enjoy that as well. Definitely check out BDP’s music online and give them some follows on the socials. Btw, I HAVE A PATREON so if you are a regular listener and want to contribute to keeping ITN streaming every month, go to patreon.com/invitetheneighbors and pledge anything. A dollar a month goes a long way if enough people do it! Thanks everyone for listening! Air date: 9/9/2019.

ITN 27 | Pursuer’s “Brazil EP” Release Show at New Way Bar, Presented by Scheme 13 (Ferndale, MI)

This episode was recorded on site at New Way Bar in Ferndale during Pursuer’s EP release show, presented by Scheme 13. Pursuer shared the stage with Vermont, Small Parks, Hexing, Ship & Sail, and my musical baby, In a Daydream. I had a blast going straight from playing a super sweaty set to jumping on the mic to record another live event podcast. I chatted with a lot of people, including Vince (vocals/guitar in Pursuer), Noah (drums in In a Daydream), Jenn (ITN logo maker/sentence struggle-to-maker), Patrick (Scheme 13 organizer), and more. Don’t worry- I didn’t let Colin take over the podcast like the last live episode. I want to say thank you to the awesome people at Scheme 13 for booking m’band and m’podcast, and thank YOU for listening! Air date: 9/2/2019.

ITN 26 | Trey and Conor from the Summit Shack/American Spirits (Bowling Green, OH)

Had a Taco Bell-fueled chat sesh with Trey and Conor from American Spirits (RIP) and the Summit Shack. Ellie from L.E.A.D. DIY was also hanging out providing color commentary from time to time. The fellas gave the scoop on why American Spirits are going bye-bye, what’s in store for the future musically, the origins of the Summit Shack, and a whole heck of a lot more about the ins and outs of running the Shack. You won’t want to miss this episode, and you won’t want to miss Fallchella aka DIY Prom at the end of September at Howard’s in Bowling Green. Thanks for listening, everybody! Please FOLLOW on Spotify and RATE/REVIEW/SUBSCRIBE on iTunes, Google Play, etc. Air date: 8/29/2019.

ITN 25 | Kyle and Ellie from r/Emo’s “The E Word” Podcast (The Interwebs, Earth)

Had a lil chat with Kyle and Ellie from r/emo’s the E Word podcast. We talked about the origins of the podcast, some of their favorite guests, some dream guests, and a bit of what might be in store for the future of their show. Ellie and I also talked about comedy for just a bit too long (sorry, Kyle). Be sure to check out their podcast if you haven’t already. Also don’t forget to follow/subscribe/rate/review both their podcast and this one. Thanks for listening! Air date: 8/26/2019.

ITN 24 | Bathroom of the Future (Port Huron, MI)

Just a couple old hacks talking about the good old days! Tim (guitar/vocals in Bathroom of the Future) had a lengthy and enlightening conversation about everything from Dan Gilbert playing Monopoly with Detroit’s skyline, to opening up for your heroes, to our daddy issues or lack thereof, to BOTF’s new album “Words I Had.” Be sure to stick around til the end for another bedroom exclusive performance of a song off that album, and check out their music on whatever streaming platform you use. Thanks for listening! Air date: 8/22/2019

ITN 23 | Guest Host Jenn Hylla w/ Bryan Porter of In a Daydream/Invite the Neighbors DIY Podcast (Ann Arbor, MI)

Jenn Hylla (graphic artist behind the Invite the Neighbors logo and masterful tolerator of all my nonsense) wanted to shake things up a bit and interview ME for a change, so I said hey, why not? The idea behind this episode is to help my listeners get to know me a little better. Hopefully we were able to accomplish that while still being entertaining! And I must say, I’m quite proud of Jenn, who was a natural in her first ever attempt at hosting a podcast. She may have even earned herself a spot as an occasional guest co-host!? I’d love to hear what you guys thought of this episode with someone else taking the reigns for a change. Thank you all for listening, and don’t forget to click FOLLOW on Spotify and SUBSCRIBE on iTunes, Google Play, etc. I also would not be mad if you left me a glowing review! 🙂 Air date: 8/19/2019.

ITN 22 | Tom Phillips of White Flash (Detroit, MI)

I met Tom when I was good and drunk at Mash in Ann Arbor and he was playing bass in a bar band. We started talking and figured out we shared a lot of influences, so eventually he sent me a link to his band White Flash’s album, and I was HOOKED, people. It’s called “Younger Days and Simpler Times” and it’s on Bandcamp and Spotify. Seriously give that one a listen. It was great getting to finally sit down and have a real conversation with him, and I hope you all enjoy it too. Air date: 8/12/2019.
